Looking for a Sr. MySQL DBA

MindSource specializes in placing technology professionals with companies in the Silicon Valley Region. We have an immediate need for a Sr. MySQL DBA with our client in PALO ALTO, CA. This is a 3 months CONTRACT position with a possible extension.

Below are the specific tasks that the manager is looking for and please let me know if you are interested.

Schema and Query optimization

Automate backup testing

Set up paired instances and create operational tool/plugin to perform failovers

Advise or improve the database versioning (migration) tool

Advise or develop a stored procedure API to a service schema

Strong experience with scripting in any ONE of the following languages: Java, PHP, Perl or Python.

As you can see, some of the tasks are pure DBA, some require more of an engineering bent. For internal tools, they use Java and Ruby; For internal web UIs in PHP or RoR.
