Job Description for DBA with a proclivity toward making independently minded contributions.
In this role you will perform Database Administrator functions such as installing, upgrading/patching, configuring, backup/recovery, troubleshooting, monitoring and performance tuning on Oracle and MySQL. The ideal candidate would be highly motivated, innovative, willing to share ideas on how we can do things better, proactive, able to work with minimal or no supervision on multiple concurrent projects and to coordinate the work of others in this environment. In addition, this role requires excellent communication skills, both with team members and business contacts and to folks at different levels.
This is a full time, on site position at our Sunnyvale location.
Responsibilities:
• Create and implement Oracle backup and recovery methods and disaster recovery methods using RMAN.
• Design, test and implement Oracle high availability solutions.
• Establish effective database performance monitoring procedures.
• Control and monitor user access to databases and maintain database security.
• Allocate systems storage and develop plans for future storage requirements.(Capacity planning)
• Set up and maintain documentation and standards.
• Resolving development and QA database requests, and troubleshooting various database issues.
• Support and maintain database infrastructures in multiple environments (dev, qa, staging, production, etc)
• Perform load, performance and stress tests of the systems.
• Provides technical assistance and mentoring to staff.
• Work and collaborate with remote and offshore staff.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of Oracle experience in a production UNIX (Linux OS preferred) environment.
• Oracle 11g, 10g/9i installation, RAC, configuration and management.
• Configuring and using OEM, RMAN, Datapump, Exp/Imp, SQL* Loader, Tkprof, advanced queuing, Partitioning, Statspack, LogMiner, Parallel Query, object oriented and LOBs support.
• Extensive performance tuning, SQL and PL/SQL tuning.
• Supporting 24x7 operations for critical time critical production databases.
• Experience with back-up recovery using Commvault, optimization and performance tuning, networking, tracing and trouble shooting.
• Experience with Nagios, BMC Patrol, Big Brother (or similar solution) for monitoring.
• Experience with source code control systems such as subversion, git or cvs.
• Standard DBA activities like user management, space management, online db reorganization.
• Experience on installation and configuration of Real Application cluster and Standby database.
• Hands on troubleshooting experience.
• Unix shell scripting/PERL.
• Database capacity planning and forecasting, and Live DB Documentation.
• Database security.
• Experience in 24X7 production environments with mission critical large data warehousing database.
• Excellent communication, inter-personal, leadership, project management and technology skills.
• B.S. in Computer Science or related course of study.
