MySQL Database Administrator



Overview:
We are looking for a talented Database Administrator with a diverse set of skills, who is excited to join our growing company and a leading edge Systems and Operations team.
Duties / Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and manage multiple MySQL servers and databases using InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines

Management of MySQL replication across multiple data centers

Maintain and test development and production RDBMS environments

Monitor and manage database backups and logs. Restore and recover data as required

Ensure performance optimization and tune SQL queries as needed

Provide advice to applications programmers in the effective use of SQL

Requirements:

BS in Computer science, Engineering or related field desired

Demonstrated experience with relational database design and SQL

Demonstrated experience with performance tuning and optimization (query optimization, index tuning, caching and buffer tuning).

Minimum 5 years experience as a DBA or equivalent

Expertise with MySQL

Knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting is desirable but not necessary

Experience with Perl programming is a plus

Experience in technical writing to generate internal and/or external user documentation

Good analytical and troubleshooting skills

Must be a team player, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Attention to detail, and a commitment to quality work

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and documentation skills

Must be a self starter; ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
